Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Participants share two sentences from a random page of their current books.
I’ve been working my way through my current challenges in preparation for a new one: the Women Unbound Challenge! I’m about finished with Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh. Here’s a tease:
He plainly wished to talk of his own affairs; they could wait, I thought, for the hour of tolerance and repletion, for the cognac; they could wait until the attention was blunted and one could listen with half the mind only; now in the keen moment when the maitre d’hotel was turning the blinis over in the pan, and in the background, two humbler men were preparing the press, we would talk of myself.
“Did you stay long at Brideshead? Was my name mentioned after I left?” (p. 172)
This passage continues with one of the best descriptions of a good meal that I have read in ages. I always love it when characters in novels are well-fed. What’s your tease today?

Thanks
Thanks

Oh I enjoyed Brideshead although didn’t love the film that much. It’s always the way though isn’t it?
I listened to this book on audio (narrated by Jeremy Irons!) and I loved it. That little excerpt completely took be back!
Haha, I like food in novels as well. Nice choice. Here is mine:

Yet another book I’ve read that I probably should. *sigh* So many books so little time.
My Teaser is HERE
wonderful teaser… and yes, novels with food are all the more enjoyable. brideshead was written in the closing years of the war, when rationing was rough in britain; to readers then the description would have been all the more mouthwatering.
the sumptuous series from 1981 is well worth the 663 minutes – as appetiser or afters to the novel itself.
Sounds like that person really knows how to get what they want! Great teaser
I read Waugh in school and loved it but haven’t read any since!
My teaser is here
I loved this book! Hope you’re enjoying it.
Yada, yada, yada . . . the wise man is one who listens more than he talks. Takes a lot of patience.
