BBAW Interview:Proust Questionnaire starring Natalie from Book, Line, and Sinker

“Since July 1993, the back page of Vanity Fair has been devoted Proust Questionnaire, in which a noteworthy person answers a series of personal questions. The questionnaire has its origins in a parlor game popularized (though not devised) by Marcel Proust (1871-1922), the French essayist and novelist, who believed that, in answering these questions, an individual reveals his or her true nature.” –Vanity Fair magazine

To spice up our BBAW interview swap, Natalie and I decided to use Vanity Fair’s format.  Natalie’s interview is below and you can read all about me at  Book, Line, and Sinker.  Enjoy!

Meet Natalie of Book, Line, and Sinker. She works at a small private high school in New Jersey and enjoys memoirs, cheesecake, women’s fiction, Italian food, and books about travel.

What is your most marked characteristic?

Zaniness coupled with joie de vivre!


Which talent would you most like to have?

Maybe X-ray vision.  That or the ability to speak many languages fluently, especially Korean so I can learn what my manicurist really thinks of me.


What do you most value in your friends?

The knowledge that I’m not the craziest of the bunch.


What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Doing for others–seriously, it makes me happy to make other people happy.


Which living person do you most admire?

My father, for having the tenacity to defy the doctor’s grim prognosis; my mother, for putting Clara Barton to shame; my sister, for having unparalleled strength and courage to keep putting one foot in front of the other.


Where would you like to live?

In a state of perpetual happiness, preferably near an ocean


What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?

………………………………………………Oh sorry, are you waiting for my answer???  Procrastination.  That and my control freak tendencies.


What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?

Hopelessness

Bill Bryson, JK Rowling, Jane Austen, Jen Lancaster, Megan McCafferty


Who is your favorite hero of fiction?

Harry Potter


Who is your favorite heroine of fiction?

Nancy Drew

Shel Silverstein, Stevie Smith, William Carlos Williams

With panache


What is your motto?
